Isn’t kappao’ just the initials in Italian? Kappa and O? That’s what I assumed! I know K isn’t part of the Italian alphabet but if it is used in a foreign word, the letter is pronounced as the Greek kappa.

Seems you've understood it well, Harold. kappaò = Ko = K.O. = knock out Wikipedia, in an article presumably aimed at Italian boxing fans, uses the the full English version. (They also link to a city in Ghana called Ko..) Reverso doesn't help much either, but does show how the abbreviation is italianized and used as a word. We're not certain of the grammatical form except that it doesn't sound like a verb. We'd say something like 'è andata K.o.', which is what I googled to find the above. Perhaps it's some sort of adverbial or prepositional phrase? Glad the listen is going well.

Your writers are plumbing my sporting ignorance again! I know that the Italians have adopted the English KO for knockout, and I hear how it is pronounced in Italian, but I can’t discover the meaning or derivation of kappaò.
This regular listening really is a help, even to a bear of very little brain, like me!
