But if I’m reading this article correctly, there seems to be surprise that a woman of her generation would engage in such work. Why? Plenty of us “old folks” clean up our surroundings and have taken the lead in fighting pollution. Indeed, anti-pollution interest groups came into existence on a large scale back in the 60s & 70s — and they were often founded and led by people also of middle or advanced age. Meanwhile, plenty of the younger generation think nothing of flying about the world (generating pollution) and leaving plenty of garbage behind, whether it’s nicely kept from view by paid cleaners & waste facilities or simply left at the venue of a rock concert.
