The new school is smaller, but much more central and much prettier, with affreschi on the ceilings and so on. I often wonder that I’m sitting under them, hammering away at my laptop…

Hi Daniel. I’m loving Easy Italian news and have discovered that I can play it through Bluetooth in my car which is great. I listen twice on the way to work (traffic heavy) and once on the way home. Really interesting articles. Well done on synopsising the news into bite size pieces. Thanks a million for everything. Must come to your school again. Need to see the new one!

Your listening skills might be woeful precisely BECAUSE you’re pausing all the time, Di, had you thought of that?

Don’t pause the audio, just listen the whole way through.

I agree with Ann on 30th Sept. about the ‘pause’ button and scroll bar being accessible along with the transcript during the transmission, rather than having to scroll back to the beginning. I have to write down the times each section commence.It becomes more difficult as the news lengthens.
I am finding it difficult to understand, but want to persevere as my listening skills are pretty woeful.

I have tried your method Daniel, and I am beginning to realise you are right!
Not pausing and not looking up words is slowly starting to work for me. If I listen three times I generally get the gist, although there are parts I don’t understand.
And I think my comprehension of the recordings is getting a bit better – although far from perfect.
If you are a control freak – like me! – it is very hard not to look up words and not to pause so that you understand everything.
But as you say, you can’t hit pause in real life so I am finding it really useful just to let go and understand what I can.
Thanks for some great material.
