In reply to Julie Morris. Prego. It's made more confusing, I agree, by the fact that Italians often write their acronyms without capital letters. Still, that's a useful thing to learn!

Hi, as today is, as you have said in your blog, a day off thanks to an ‘immaculate conception’ I have just caught up on the easy Italian news from Tuesday. While I accept that I will not understand everything that is said/written I do usually get the general meaning but was stumped with the reference to ‘tir’ in the TENTATA RAPINA A UN PORTAVALORI LUNGO L’A4 article.
I have asked Google, which is the usual go to in these circumstances, but no joy.
If you have a spare second could you enlighten me please?
